It aids a doctor in understanding if the brain is functioning properly, and if it might be involved in certain problems, diseases and conditions, such as seizure disorders, sleep disorders, stroke, or multiple sclerosis.

EEG – The Test
Small electrodes are positioned all over the scalp. These electrodes record electrical impulses generated by the brain while the patient performs certain tasks in a specially designed room.
The test results are read and interpreted by the doctor, usually some time after the test has been performed.
Your doctor will tell you if there are any special preparations necessary before the test, such as abstaining from caffeine consumption, certain medications or sleep guidelines.
