Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a treatment for a number of neurological conditions. It is a neurosurgical procedure during which an electrical probe is inserted in a region of the brain. The probe is connected to an electrical impulse emitter, which is located just under the skin of the chest or breast. The emitter delivers controlled, miniscule electrical impulses directly to the area of the brain responsible for various tremor symptoms associated with neurological diseases, such as Parkinson’s and types of dystonias.
